Current Situation and Problems

After development, China’s "component" sensors BDX54C and instrument components have seen significant improvements in technology and products. China has more than 1,600 enterprises and institutions engaged in the development and production of "component" sensors and instrument components. However, compared with foreign countries, in the early 1990s, the varieties and quality levels of "component" sensors and instrument components could not meet domestic market demand, and the overall level was still behind foreign standards. The main problems are:

(1) Poor technological innovation, with core manufacturing technology seriously lagging behind foreign countries; few products with independent intellectual property rights; incomplete variety; product technology level about 15 years behind foreign countries.

(2) Low investment intensity, outdated scientific research equipment and production process equipment, low achievement levels, and poor product quality.

(3) Disconnection between science and production, affecting the transformation of scientific research achievements, low comprehensive strength, and insufficient industrial development momentum.

Strategic Goals

By 2020, the field of "component" sensors and instrument components should strive to achieve three major strategic goals:

Focus on industrial control, automotive, communications, and environmental protection as key service areas. Focus on "component" sensors, elastic components, optical components, and special circuits to develop original technologies and products with independent intellectual property rights; MEMS based on processes, relying on integration, intelligence, and networking technologies, strengthen manufacturing technology and new technologies. The development of "component" sensors and instrument components aims for leading products to reach and approach the advanced level of similar foreign products — the main goals are to increase variety, improve quality and economic benefits, accelerate industrialization, and make the domestic industrialized "component" sensors and instrument components account for more than 70% to 80% of high-end products.
